Bloons TD 5 (iPhone only) is a tower defense game where players build awesome towers, choose upgrades and hire special agents in order to pop all the invading bloons (balloons). This version of the game has never before seen exclusive features to keep gamers on the edge of their seats.
There’s nothing exactly revolutionary about this game as it is much like other tower defense titles. If you’ve never played a TD game before, you may feel a little lost since Bloons TD 5 doesn’t come with a tutorial, but don’t worry too much. It’s pretty simple to figure it out—especially since the levels start out easy at first.
In each level, balloons move down the track from one end of the level to the other end. Gamers must strategically place monkeys that are armed with darts to shoot down the balloons. Every time a balloon is popped, players earn cash which can be spent on more upgrades and monkeys.
The game features over 20 different maps to play and each one has three different difficulty levels. Along with the traditional levels, there’s also an endless horde mode as well as a limited cash mode to spice up the game play. Bloons TD 5 also features 10 special mission and 150 random missions for gamers to complete. Regardless of the mode, gamers have eighteen different monkey towers to build and there are also special agents that can be purchased along the way with the in-game currency to help in the more difficult levels.
Bloons TD 5 is packed with adorable graphics and cute themes to keep players happy. It’s hard not to smile when seeing a monkey in a boat or flying in an airplane. Upgrading the little primates to increase the damage or take out tough balloons is a lot of fun. Overall, there’s plenty of action, which means it’s definitely worth the three dollar price tag.
There’s nothing majorly wrong with this tower defense game, although it does little to bring anything new to the genre. One small inconvenience is that the sequence of the balloons that come out on each map never changes so be prepared to earn about the same amount of money each level. This results in using the same strategy often, which can make the game a little repetitive at times, but there are different maps that keep things fresh enough.
Bloons TD 5 is ideal for hardcore gamers looking for a new TD title to play, but it’s also a lot of fun for anyone new to the genre. There’s a wide variety of content so be prepared to devote hours playing this title. It’s highly recommendable and gamers should consider adding to their library today.
