:-D : Brain Lab II is a fun way to train the brain and test IQ levels at the same time. The game offers over 200 tricky questions for users to play.

:-( : No Game Center or Open Feint achievements. Gamers must rate the app with five stars to unlock the practice mode.

8-O : Scores can be shared via Facebook.

Brain Lab II – Pro (iPhone/iPod touch) is a game that trains users’ brains. Developed by Asia App Limited, the game is designed to evaluate the IQ of both the left and right sides of the brain.

Brain Lab II is packed with over 200 tricky questions to keep users on their toes. Each test is timed so players must answer them as quickly as possible to achieve a high IQ score. The games range from selecting the dice with the highest number to picking an object from a group that doesn’t belong.

Players are shown their IQ score when the game ends and can then share it with their friends via Facebook. Trophies are earned to keep gamers coming back to test their IQ scores, but there are no Game Center or Open Feint achievements.

The game features a test mode and practice mode. While the test mode is unlocked, it appears that gamers must rate the game with five stars to play the practice mode. This is disappointing and seems more like a bait and switch tactic for the developers to get ratings in the App Store. It appears that many customers have complained about this in the reviews section. I feel like gamers would enjoy Brain Lab II more if they weren’t forced to rate the game in order to play the practice mode.

Aside from the practice mode disappointment, the graphics are cute and well-polished. The color scheme is pleasing to the eyes and I really enjoyed how well the game looks on the iPhone’s retina display. The music and sound effects aren’t annoying like most games and suit the game’s style well.

While I’m not sure if Brain Lab II is a completely accurate way to test an individual’s IQ level, it sure is a lot of fun to play. I like games that challenge my brain and Brain Lab II does just that. If you aren’t sure if you’ll like this game, check out the free version here: Brain Lab II.
