Fieldrunners 2 (iPhone/iPod touch) takes all the elements from its predecessor and improves them to create one of the best tower-defense games on the market. Fieldrunners 2 is exceptional and well-worth purchasing if you’re a huge tower-defense gamer or a die-hard fan of the original 2008 title. The game allows players to strategically place towers on over 20 open fields to take out the enemies. It’s easy to pick-up-and-play and the controls are outstanding. Just like all games in this genre, the towers can be upgraded with cash earned by killing the enemies. What makes Fieldrunners 2 stand out is that the enemies are diverse. Instead of solely focusing on walking targets, players must take down planes, motorcyclists, tanks and other intelligent enemies that react to each other and take different routes. Castle Raid (universal) is a tower defense and real-time strategy game that requires players to conquer kingdoms. The game requires skill, wit and dedication as players work hard to defend their own thrones. It combines elements from popular games like Legendary Wars and Kingdom Rush, so it has a little bit of something for everyone. In this game, players send out peasants to collect trees for gold. The gold is then used to purchase soldiers and players then must select where they would like to position their soldiers on the map. Bloons TD 5 (iPhone only) is a tower defense game where players build awesome towers, choose upgrades and hire special agents in order to pop all the invading bloons (balloons). This version of the game has never before seen exclusive features to keep gamers on the edge of their seats. In each level, balloons move down the track from one end of the level to the other end. Gamers must strategically place monkeys that are armed with darts to shoot down the balloons. Every time a balloon is popped, players earn cash which can be spent on more upgrades and monkeys. The micro organisms are at war, and gamers must use towers and a hero with special abilities to take down the waves of enemies. At the start of each level, gamers must set up a defense of cells to keep the enemies away from the egg.
